I’ve been working with a great team today, interested in the challenges of learning in a complex world. Infrastructure, logistics, uncertainty, change, all conspire to create ambiguity and risk. We sometimes see the world as moving from complex to chaotic. And, by one measure, it is. The link between cause and effect is often disjointed, extended or fragmented. Indeed, some environments seem chaotic: a space where there is no link at all, indeed, the cause and effects are unknowable.
But this is our new world, this is the Social Age. To thrive, we need an evolved mindset. We need to view complexity not as complex, but as terrain. We have to find the tools to navigate. Agility. Curiosity. Fairness. Kindness. Iteration. Rehearsal. And chaos? It’s simply our reality.
